Maharashtra Political Crisis Live Updates, Uddhav Thackeray Vs Eknath Shinde Breaking News: As the Supreme Court grants relief to rebel MPs from Maharashtra by pausing their disqualification proceedings on July 11, the MVA government led by Uddhav Thackeray may soon have to prove its majority on the House floor. The High Court yesterday rejected a plea by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s team against holding a ground test until July 11.

Reports suggest Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari may ask the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray to prove a majority at home this week. The BJP, on the other hand, is optimistic after the Supreme Court’s order on Monday and is confident to form the government with the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena. The saffron party, however, has officially denied having any discussions with the rebels over the government faction.

Claiming to have more than 50 MPs in its fold, the Shinde camp’s decision to quit MVA would raise a question over numbers with MVA government-led Uddhav Thackeray, who may struggle to prove his majority on home soil if The rebel MPs were expected to stick together, The Indian Express quoted sources as saying.

Camp Shinde’s confidence stems from their belief that they hold a two-thirds majority in the Shiv Sena. At present, he claims the support of 39 deputies out of a total of 55 Sena deputies. In addition, there are more than 10 deputies from small parties/independents with them. Their total support base has grown to over 50, according to Camp Shinde.
