Method of traction behind surging sales for Texas-based EHR provider
“At Experience Care, we truly believe in our mission and the value we deliver,” said Long. “So borrowing from Traction’s ideas was obvious. “

On October 1, a long-term care software company, Experience Care, exceeded its annual sales targets, three months ahead of schedule. This is largely due to his adoption of the business strategies presented in Gino Wickman’s Traction: Master Your Business.
In 2012, Wickman published a book that advised companies to adopt an Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) in order to achieve the success they envision for themselves. This process consists of six elements: vision, people, data, issues, process, and traction. Wickman argues that by determining its core values, creating a process by which they can be achieved at different times, and putting the right people in the right places, a business will gain traction or make real progress toward its goals. Traction would become a bestseller and impact the workings of tens of thousands of organizations.
One of the companies that has been successful in implementing Traction’s ideas may come as a surprise: an Electronic Health Records (EHR) provider in Texas with over half a century of experience in the long-term care industry . But when 41-year-old CEO Jason Long was brought in to update the organization’s business model in July 2020, he embraced the latter trend. “At Experience Care, we really believe in our mission and the value we deliver,” he said. “So borrowing from Traction’s ideas was obvious. ”
The means by which the Experience Care team implemented Traction’s ideas can be summarized as follows:
- Leadership determined the core values of the company: empathy, vision, problem solving, passion for the specific job, reliability, collaboration and customer focus.
- Based on these values, five-year goals were set, including: developing a reputation as a leader in long-term care software, instilling work-life balance in team members, winning two prestigious awards for to be the best place to work, training 80% of the team in long-term care best practices and giving 100% of clients the tools they need to conduct or maintain five-star surveys.
- Every Friday at team meetings, Long reiterates Experience Care’s mission and vision: “To make every long-term care organization a fulfilling place to live and work by helping to maximize financial success and compliance.” to achieve the best teams, care and results. “
- Once every two weeks, team members meet with their direct supervisors to assess themselves on the progress they are making towards their goals and how well they embody the core values of the company. Supervisors then share their own assessments and offer support in pursuing future goals.
The successful experience of the Long and Experience Care leadership team using Traction concepts should pave the way for more industries to adopt the most forward-thinking approaches in business.
