Lewis Investments Helps Esperanza Community Improvements and Installs Public Service Infrastructure to Provide Solutions to Homeless People | Texas
ROUND ROCK, Texas, November 1, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Real estate investment and development firm Lewis Investments is installing utility infrastructure for the community of Esperanza – a sanctioned settlement of about 150 people in Austin, Texas. Committed to solution-based alternatives to help Austin’s homeless, Lewis Investments worked closely with The Other Ones Foundation (TOOF) and donated their services to the much anticipated improvements to the camp.
“It is a powerful model of community, and an example of what affected businesses and individuals are capable of when they come together to donate time and service to a common cause, ”said Founder of Lewis Investments Kip lewis. “As I assembled the team of entrepreneurs and started reaching out to friends and industry partners, I realized that almost all of us knew someone who has lived through the experience of homelessness. Business owners and leaders in our community were very willing to help. So the donation of services that support TOOF’s mission – construction of sanitary sewers, water, fire protection and drainage – has deep meaning for the group. “
For nearly three decades, the Lewis Investments team has developed various real estate projects in Central Texas and has been essential in efforts to revitalize the historic downtown Round Rock, Texas. Having supported various community support organizations in the past, Kip lewis and her team felt compelled to help TOOF in a way that would have a tremendous impact.
“The project is inspiring – there are so many passionate members of the Central Texas Community, coming together not only to give back, but to be part of a real solution, ”added Dean Lewis by Lewis Investments.
“This project shows how, if you have the skills to deliver a one-stop solution, you have to use your tenacity to figure out how you can get involved. Once you have found your opportunity, problem solving, meeting face to face and rallying a community, hope and progress for the most ostracized members of our community who are actually your neighbors, friends, sons. and girls. a larger scale for cities across the country.
With the help of companies such as Lewis Investments, the Esperanza community aims to become a transformational shelter community with 200 units of non-collective shelters, strategically configured in neighborhoods with outdoor communal kitchens, sanitation facilities and shared community spaces.
The Esperanza community is led by TOOF which works closely with the residents of the camp and honors the residents’ vision for the future of the community. TOOF also functions as Camp Service Coordinators, working closely with the community of service providers to bring all the resources needed to properly support residents of the Esperanza community.
TOOF hopes to lift $ 5.4 million for improvements and is currently accepting donations of all kinds to achieve their “most ambitious mission yet”. Lewis Investments’ team of entrepreneurs, along with TXDOT, plan to complete the installation by the end of 2021.
